Prof. Lalit Kumar Das is a distinguished design educator, researcher, and pioneer of industrial design education in India. An alumnus of IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi (M.Tech in Design Engineering), and the Royal College of Art, London (M.A. in Industrial Design), he developed foundational design programmes at IIT Delhi that helped shape India’s professional design landscape. He has worked across product design, ergonomics, sustainability, e-governance, and inclusive design, contributed to national policy initiatives, and supervised doctoral research spanning emotion, sustainability, and frugal innovation. Prof. Das has served as honorary and visiting faculty at institutions including IIT Bombay, Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi Technological University, and IIIT Jabalpur, while also engaging widely as a jury member, researcher, and speaker on design’s role in society and sustainable systems.
