Snehal Pawar currently serves as the Design Chief for Alstom Asia. He holds a Master’s in Transportation and Automobile Design from the National Institute of Design,Ahmedabad (NID), as well as a qualification in Strategic Design Management from FHH, Germany. His extensive global experience includes significant roles at major automotive brands such as Tata Motors, Hyundai Motor Group, and Mahindra, where he has made substantial contributions to some of the most successful and groundbreaking design programs.

With over fifteen years of experience in automotive design, Snehal is well-regarded for his ability to build robust design infrastructures and cohesive teams that consistently deliver award-winning products, exemplifying his commitment to collective leadership and a design-led business vision. Beyond his professional accolades, Snehal's interests in organic farming, heritage crafts, theatre, and outdoor adventures reflect his personal values and inform his professional endeavours. He aims to enhance the crucial and reciprocal relationship between people and the planet while driving cross-disciplinary design strategies for the future of mobility, all while advocating for a better, brighter world through inclusive design practices across his various ongoing engagements.

His recent assignment at Alstom Transportation underscores his distinction in shaping the future of mobility by developing products and services that address the evolving needs of our society, particularly as we navigate the challenges posed by geopolitical upheavals, socio-cultural shifts, and technological advancements.

He now serves as a distinguished member of CII’s National Advisory Committee for Design and Innovation, alongside his design advocacy and mentorship with NDBI at NID Ahmedabad and IIM Bangalore’s NSRCEL on the Sustainable Mobility Program.

Since its incorporation in India around 1998, Alstom has been at the forefront of urban mobility solutions in India, deploying about 800 electric locomotive, advanced metro systems that effectively tackle the challenges of regional connectivity and urban congestion. With our Global Competency Center (GCC) located in Bangalore, we lead design & engineering initiatives tailored for the Asia Pacific market, while driving innovation that resonates across regions. In addition to our operational achievements, we place a strong emphasis on skill development, empowering the local workforce through training and strategic partnerships that foster economic growth, that exemplifies our state-of-the-art production plants at Savali(GJ) and Sricity (AP), which continue to focus on modern rolling stock manufacturing for domestic and export markets, reinforcing our commitment to the 'Make in India' initiative. Sustainability has always been the key parameter at Alstom, including electric and hybrid trains, aligning with India's ambitious green goals. Our efforts in design excellence have not gone unnoticed, as we have proudly received several recent awards recognizing Alstom Asia’s commitment to delivering outstanding, user-centric mobility solutions.
